Annual Report 2025-2026
Rise's 2025-2026 Annual Report is out!
Thanks to our supporters, Rise made a significant impact across BC in 2025, improving outcomes for survivors and increasing access to justice through education, training, research, and advocacy.
Learn more about how Rise is improving access to justice for women and gender diverse people through delivering responsive family law services to survivors, supporting front-line workers and Family Law Advocates, advancing family law education, advocating for survivors, publishing original research, and so much more!
Rise has consistently found that support workers are often forced to fill gaps in the legal system when there are no other options for their clients.
Our Family Advocate Support Team delivered numerous opportunities for support workers and advocates assisting clients navigating family law matters including training and mentorship. In 2025, we had 1,146 attendees at our trainings.
In 2025, we published four guides to help clients and support workers navigate the family law system! Translations are available in up to 12 languages including Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Korean, Persian (Farsi), Punjabi, Spanish, Tigrigna, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
You can find all guides here.
Rise and West Coast Leaf intervened at the supreme court of Canada in the case Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia in 2025. We asked the Supreme Court of Canada to consider myths and stereotypes when making their decision about whether to create a new tort of family violence.
In 2025, Rise continued to deliver trauma informed family law information, navigation, advice, and advocacy services to over 2,000 women and gender diverse people across BC.
Our original research report, “Should I Have Just Stayed?” Improving Family Law Remedies for Survivors During BC’s Housing Crisis, was published in 2025, and shows the dangerous effects of BC’s housing crisis on women and gender diverse people.
