We are incredibly grateful to announce a $500,000 gift from J. Scott Stanley and family. This gift reflects a substantial investment in efforts to reduce gender-based violence, and to create a safer, more just and equal legal system for all. Scott and his family have shown their deep commitment to access to justice and to supporting survivors.

The Department of Justice funds legal services for survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. This funding helps the 50% of women and gender diverse people across Canada who experience gender-based violence in their lifetime. It’s about to end. Protect survivor’s safety by sending an email to your MP, urging the government to renew this support.

The BC Government appointed Dr. Kim Stanton to review how the legal system treats victims and survivors, and to recommend actions to address persistent challenges, and Dr. Stanton’s report endorsed many of Rise’s recommendations.

We are excited to announce that Rise Women’s Legal Centre is launching a new, no-cost initiative to assist more family law lawyers in BC representing survivors of violence.
